Nature & Hiking

Get lost in the jungle

The area around Novaggio has many short/half day hikes to offer. In this section I will focus on the ones you do all year around, even in the winter!

Hike in the woods along the “Sentiero delle meraviglie”, the paths of marvels, see button. A jewel after the other hidden in old chestnut forests.

In the summer, swim in the river pool by the Maglio (forge) of Aranno in the forest on the Path of marvels. No words can describe this, you will feel immersed in nature: water, sky and forest!

Hike to the nearby villages, especially Breno, Bedigliora and Aranno. So many nice little picturesque narrow streets and ancient stone houses. You can easily hike there.

Mountain hiking

See it all from above

Casa Corvo is situated at 650 meters above sea level. From here you can hike up some of the peaks of the Prealps, the surrounding moutains, some reach 1800 mt. of height.

The view's are spectacular, the hikes steep! But it's definitely worth it! If you wish, from april to october there is a cable car going from Miglieglia (the next village) to Monte Lema.

Where to eat

You can go out for a pizza even walking distance in Novaggio!

Here's some options.

  • In Novaggio: Ristorante Belcantone! Pizza and italian dishes
  • Ristorante LA PALMA in Nerocco: highly reccomandated, it’s my favourite. Good local and fresh dishes. Also for Vegetarians – Very beautiful outdoor area
  • Ristorante Negresco in Miglieglia: Pizza and italian dishes
  • Ristorante LA SELVATICA: in Banco, pizza and italian dishes, nice outside terrace
  • Ristorante Il Castagno in Mugena. A little bit further up the valley, amazing views and local and international dishes.

Lake & Lugano

A dip & some dolce vita
If you are up for some action, you can drive to the city of Lugano.

Lugano offers museums, theaters, restaurants, galleries, the cathedral, and of course the Lake!

The Lugano Lake, called Ceresio, can also be accessed by just drivingvdown the hill from Novaggio. In about 10 min. you'll get to Caslano! The small pictoresque old town used to be a fishing village: have an icecream, stroll along the lake and maybe stay for dinner!

Another reccomendation and one of my top 5 is Morcote. It's probably one of the most beautiful and well preserved villages of Switzerland. Definitely worth a visit!
